Reno, Nevada – Craig Melzo has been found guilty of first-degree murder in the tragic death of his two-week-old son. The court’s verdict has sentenced Melzo to 50 years behind bars, with parole eligibility after 20 years.
The heart-wrenching story began on April 3, 2020, when Reno Police Department officers responded to a distress call at an apartment, reporting an infant experiencing severe breathing difficulties. The helpless infant was rushed to Renown, where medical scans unveiled a grim reality – multiple brain bleeds and retinal haemorrhaging, indicative of grave trauma. Tragically, the child succumbed to these grievous injuries on April 7.
A team of medical professionals unanimously concluded that the infant’s abusive head trauma resulted from severe child abuse.
