NEVADA – According to the Elko County Sheriff’s Office, a guy from Ryndon was arrested on multiple counts of animal cruelty.
Deputies arrested Jon Hickox of Ryndon, NV, on January 4, 2023, for 9 counts of torturing, hurting, or abandoning animals.
The arrest was the result of an investigation that began on December 8, 2022, following an anonymous allegation that Hickox had six mistreated horses on his property.
When deputies arrived on the scene, they discovered that one of the horses had died, and the others were in critical condition owing to a lack of food and water for an extended length of time.
According to the sheriff’s office, the horses were in such bad shape that two of them were euthanized by a veterinarian.
The remaining three horses are being cared for by Elko County Sheriff’s Office personnel and are receiving regular veterinarian attention to aid in their recovery.
Three pets were also taken from the property.
The canines had been kept in small wire kennels that were described as filthy and without access to water.
