NEVADA – Two people were shot and went to a hospital in Elko Thursday night. Police are looking into what happened.
On January 19, 2023, at about 8:45 p.m., EPD Officers were told that someone with multiple gunshot wounds and another person with a single gunshot wound had both gone to Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital.
The people were in their car, which was described as a white 2012 Ford Fusion sedan, on the 12th Street Bridge, where the investigation later found them.
Another car, a two-door Acura coupe that was either gold or gray in color, was also on the bridge at the time.
Police say that the people in both cars were involved in a fight that started at a business on North 5th Street in the City of Elko.
Both cars ended up on the 12 Street Bridge, where the driver of the Acura is said to have fired several shots at the Fusion sedan, hitting both people inside.
The driver of the Fusion was seriously hurt and was flown to a hospital in Salt Lake City for advanced care.
The passenger of the Fusion was taken to Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital, where they were treated and then sent home.
Investigations are still going on.
Anyone who was in the area of North 5th Street, Juniper Street, and 12th Street on January 19 between 8 and 9 p.m. and saw what the people in a white 2012 Ford Fusion and a gold or grey Acura two-door coupe were doing is asked to call the EPD Detectives at (775) 777-7310.
