Nevada Teen Faces Murder Charges After Calling 911 to Report Killing Father

Humboldt County, NV – A 17-year-old is in custody in Humboldt County, facing open murder charges after calling 911 to report he had shot and killed his father.
Details of the Incident
On February 13th, police received a 911 call from the teen, stating he had shot his father, 64-year-old William Berch, multiple times within the family home on the historic 25 Ranch.
Upon arrival, Humboldt County deputies found Berch deceased in an office area of the home. An initial investigation found the victim was unarmed and seated at a desk at the time of the shooting. Authorities report no evidence of a physical altercation before the incident.
Arrest and Charges
The teen, whose identity is withheld due to his age, was taken into custody and booked into the Humboldt County jail. He faces charges of first-degree murder and domestic battery with the use of a deadly weapon. The teen is currently being held without bail.
Tragic Trend
This marks the second incident within a week where a northern Nevada teen has been arrested after contacting 911 to report killing a parent. The motives behind both incidents remain under investigation.
