Over 34,500 NV Energy Customers in Northern Nevada Are Without Electricity

NEVADA – As of Sunday afternoon, more than 35,000 individuals in Northern Nevada were still without power. Washoe County and the Carson City area had the most outages.
I-80 through the Sierra Nevada has reopened with chain controls. Eastbound trucks are being checked in Placer County near Applegate. Trucks traveling west on Interstate 80 are being checked near the Mogul exit, 5 miles west of Reno. According to CalTrans, drivers must bring chains with them in order to progress.
5:50 p.m. UPDATE: NV Energy reported that over 34,000 customers in Northern Nevada are without power.
Washoe County accounts for roughly half of the population. According to NV Energy, power should be restored by 7 p.m.
Approximately half of them are in Carson City and Douglas County. There is no expected time for power restoration.
