RENO, Nev. (775 Times, NV Globe) – Respiratory Syncytial Virus cases in Washoe County continue to decrease, the health agency said on Wednesday.

34 RSV cases were reported in the county from January 15 to January 21, down from 66 the week before. Since early October, the county has seen a total of 1,891 cases.

The health district reports that while RSV incidence are still on the decline, COVID-19 cases are still holding steady.

With 187 cases recorded last week, the 7-day average of cases remained 27 each day. Since November 24, 16 fatalities related to COVID-19 have been documented.

Despite the fact that there are fewer RSV cases, the WCHD nonetheless advises being vaccinated against the flu and COVID-19.

According to the Nevada Hospital Association, pediatric hospital occupancy rates are currently at 92%, down from the 98–100% range they had been at for the previous nine weeks.
