By TheNevadaGlobeStaff, January 9, 2023 10:55 am

RENO, Nev. (775 Times, NV Globe) – A state of emergency has been declared for the impending storm in Lyon County.

The area already had a foundation of snow and water from the last storm, prompting the announcement. With a probable break Wednesday and Thursday before another system comes, storms have been predicted until Tuesday.

In streams, creeks, culverts, and drainage areas, the county anticipates an increase in water levels. Flooding is not anticipated, but homeowners are urged to stock up on supplies for at least three days and to be prepared for any power disruptions.

To deal with the storm, an emergency operations center has been activated. Residents are urged to contact (775) 461-3757 for assistance with concerns about floods and weather-related issues.
