Las Vegas, Nevada – Resort officials at Fontainebleau Las Vegas reassured the public on Monday that a rooftop fire at the unfinished property would not impede its scheduled December opening. On Saturday afternoon, police and fire crews swiftly responded to a fire ignited in construction debris on the roof of the north Strip property. The company swiftly labeled the incident as “minor” and expressed confidence that it would not disrupt their timeline for the resort’s much-anticipated launch by the end of the year.
In a statement, resort operators asserted, “The incident will not impact or delay the opening of Fontainebleau Las Vegas in December 2023. Construction, hiring, and operations are moving forward on schedule.”
While the cause of the fire is still under investigation, the Clark County Fire Department reported that no injuries were reported, and the fire was promptly extinguished within an hour of the initial call. The plume of black smoke emanating from the roof was visible across the valley, raising concerns among locals.
The 67-story Fontainebleau Las Vegas is finally set to welcome guests almost two decades after its initial plans were unveiled by Florida developer Jeffry Soffer in 2005. Anticipation is high as the 3,644-room resort is expected to offer visitors an extensive array of amenities, including restaurants, shops, pool experiences, nightlife, spa, wellness services, and a staggering 550,000 square feet of convention space. As the resort’s construction, hiring, and preparations proceed on track, Las Vegas eagerly awaits the unveiling of this long-awaited destination.
