A poll released by Siena College Research Institute and The New York Times reveals that a majority of swing state voters believe President Joe Biden, 80, is “too old” and mentally unfit to do the job. If a Democrat other than Biden runs against former President Donald Trump, the Democrat leads in all six swing states.
Among respondents in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Nevada, Arizona and Georgia, 71% agree Biden is too old to effectively serve another term as president and 62% agree that Bided lacks the mental sharpness to be an effective president. Only 38% say Trump too old to be an effective president and 54% say Trump has the mental sharpness.
Across the six battleground states, 59% disapprove of the job Biden is doing as president. Voters have an unfavorable view of both Biden (41-57%) & Trump (42-56%). Yet, when it comes to policy, 51% of respondents favor Trump’s policies and 53% of voters say Biden’s policies have hurt them personally.
Digging into the data spells trouble for Biden in the Silver State with two of the largest, and growing, voting demographics: Hispanics and independents.
44% if Hispanics and 50% of independents say there is “not really any chance” they would vote for Biden. 39% of Hispanic respondents and 53% independents strongly disapprove of the job Biden is doing and 38% of Hispanics, compared to 44% of independents, have an unfavorable opinion of Biden.
63% of registered voters in Nevada have concerns over economic issues such as jobs, taxes or the cost of living and those concerns will likely determine who they will vote for, whereas only 26% of voters are concerned with societal issues such as abortion, guns or democracy. Of the net respondents, 59% of registered Silver State voters would rate the Biden economy as fair/poor.
