Las Vegas, NV – A 16-year-old boy, Tshaun Rucker, will stand trial in June for leaving a gun on a preschool playground after a November 3rd shooting on an RTC bus in Las Vegas. Prosecutors allege Rucker dropped the firearm while fleeing police following the incident.

The bus shooting left a man injured. Tragically, a two-year-old girl who found the gun on the playground subsequently shot herself. Fortunately, both the child and the adult gunshot victim survived. The young girl’s courage and resilience in the aftermath of the incident have been widely recognized.

Rucker, charged as an adult, faces a range of serious charges, including:

  • Attempted murder
  • Two counts of firing a gun into an occupied vehicle
  • Child abuse or neglect with significant bodily harm
  • Disregard for the safety of a person
  • Discharging a gun into an occupied structure
  • Two misdemeanor firearms charges

Rucker pleaded not guilty on Thursday and waived his right to a speedy trial. The judge set a June 3rd date for his trial.
