Early Morning Murder in Las Vegas — Owens and Pecos
By TheNevadaGlobeStaff, April 14, 2025 9:57 am
Another violent crime rocks Las Vegas in the early hours of Sunday, as law enforcement once again must pick up the pieces of a broken system that emboldens criminals and leaves communities vulnerable. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police are investigating a homicide that occurred around 1:30 a.m. near the 3900 block of E. Owens Ave., close to Pecos Road.
While officials have yet to release full details, the crime scene underscores what many in the community already feel — public safety is becoming an afterthought in cities where soft-on-crime policies rule the day. How many more headlines like this will it take before we get serious about holding criminals accountable?
Law-abiding citizens deserve to feel safe in their neighborhoods — not worry about whether the next early morning siren means another life lost. As investigations unfold, one thing is clear: until we get tough on crime and back our police with more than just words, our communities will remain vulnerable.
