Nevada Dems Rob the Tip Jar: Titus, Lee, Horsford Vote to Tax Your Hard Work

By TheNevadaGlobeStaff, February 5, 2026 6:00 am

Nevada Democrats did it again. When the moment came to let workers keep more of their own money, the state’s liberal trio slammed the door and walked away smiling.

Dina Titus, Susie Lee, and Steven Horsford voted against sweeping tax relief that would have meant bigger paychecks, fatter tips, and overtime pay without the government skimming first. No tax on tips. No tax on overtime. Real relief for bartenders, servers, construction workers, nurses, and families trying to stay ahead. Nevada Democrats said no.

This was not some gimmick. This was a clear up or down vote on the Working Families Tax Cuts backed by Donald Trump and House Republicans, who are pushing to reward work, not punish it. While Republicans fought to lock in wins for small businesses and working families, Titus, Lee, and Horsford chose the old Washington playbook. Take more. Spend more. Shrug when voters notice.

For a state built on hospitality and overtime hours, the vote lands like a punch to the gut. Servers depend on tips. Shift workers grind through overtime. Small businesses fight payroll every week. Nevada Democrats looked at all of that and sided with the tax collectors.

The message could not be clearer. When given the choice between helping working Nevadans or appeasing their far-left base, these Democrats never hesitate. They always choose the base. Even when it costs you money.

NRCC Spokesman Christian Martinez put it bluntly.

“Out of touch Dina Titus, Susie Lee, Steven Horsford tax and spend agenda is once again hurting hardworking Americans. Titus, Lee, and Horsford will do anything to appease their radical base, even if it means rejecting commonsense wins that help Americans keep more money in their pockets.”

Nevadans have seen this movie before. Big talk about helping families. Quiet votes that do the opposite. Higher taxes. Smaller paychecks. Less freedom to get ahead.

President Trump and House Republicans are fighting to make work pay again. Nevada Democrats are fighting to keep their hands in your wallet. Voters will remember who stood with workers and who voted to take their money.
