RENO, NV — The Washoe County Republican Central Committee fired the starting gun on the 2026 election season Monday night, endorsing a full slate of candidates spanning federal, state, county, and municipal races at the Atlantis Casino Resort in Reno.

The move makes Washoe one of the first county Republican organizations in Nevada to formally endorse ahead of the primary, sending a clear signal to voters and candidates alike about where the party stands.

At the top of the ticket, the committee backed incumbent Governor Joseph Lombardo and Lieutenant Governor Stavros Anthony for reelection, along with a statewide slate that includes Sharron Angle for Secretary of State, Drew Johnson for State Treasurer, incumbent State Controller Andy Matthews, and Adriana Guzmán Fralick for Attorney General. Congressman David Flippo received the nod for reelection in Congressional District 2.

In the state legislature, the committee endorsed incumbents Ira Hansen and Lisa Krasner in Senate Districts 14 and 16, respectively, along with Matthew Buehler in Senate District 13. On the Assembly side, endorsements went to Michael A. Ginsburg (District 25), Richard Delong (District 26), Veronica Cortes (District 27), Trista Gomez (District 30), and incumbents Jill Dickman (District 31) and Alexis Hansen (District 32). Drew Ribar earned the endorsement in Assembly District 40.

Closer to home, the committee endorsed Katherine Yriarte for County Commission District 5, incumbent County Assessor Chris Sarman, Wes Duncan for County District Attorney, and incumbents Nicole Klitzke, Jan Galassini, and Justin Taylor for Public Administrator, County Clerk, and County Treasurer, respectively. Incumbent Sheriff Darin Balaam also received the committee’s endorsement.

In the school board races, incumbent James Phoenix was endorsed for District C, and Brooke Westlake for District F at Large.

Rounding out the slate, Summer Pellett was endorsed for Reno City Council Ward 2, Wendi Rawson for Sparks Mayor, and Reno’s very own pitbull, Eddie George Lorton, for Reno Mayor.

With endorsements locked in from the courthouse to Congress, Washoe County Republicans aren’t waiting around. The question now: which county committee steps up next?
