KINGMAN, AZ — A multi-state manhunt for a Las Vegas man accused of murdering his wife ended in a violent standoff near Kingman, Arizona, on Tuesday morning. Scott Hubert, 64, is currently in a hospital with life-threatening injuries after reportedly turning a gun on himself as law enforcement closed in.
The incident began in Las Vegas on Monday, April 6, 2026, at approximately 11:30 AM. According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD), officers responded to a residence following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered a woman dead from multiple gunshot wounds outside the home.
The Confrontation and Escape
Investigators believe the shooting followed a heated verbal dispute between Hubert and his wife. A neighbor who witnessed the altercation attempted to intervene; however, police say Hubert fired several shots at the neighbor before fleeing the scene in his vehicle. Fortunately, the neighbor was not injured.
Hubert managed to cross the state line into Arizona, sparking a regional BOLO (Be On the Lookout) alert. On Tuesday morning, Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) troopers spotted Hubert’s vehicle near Kingman and initiated a pursuit.
The Standoff
The pursuit ended when Hubert became barricaded inside his vehicle. During the ensuing standoff with Arizona troopers, Hubert sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was airlifted to a nearby trauma center, where he remains in critical, life-threatening condition.
The LVMPD Homicide Section continues to lead the investigation into the initial murder. Anyone with additional information is urged to contact detectives at 702-828-3521 or remain anonymous by contacting Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
