Advanced Health Care of Las Vegas Cordoned Off Following Tragic Nursing Home Murder-Suicide

SPRING VALLEY, NV — A routine Sunday morning at a southwest valley skilled nursing center turned horrific after a Pahrump man entered the facility and shot his wife before turning the weapon on himself, authorities confirmed.

The isolated domestic incident left two dead and placed the facility under an immediate tactical lockdown.

A Fatal Encounter in Spring Valley

According to dispatch logs unsealed by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, officers responded to reports of a shooting at approximately 9:00 AM at a healthcare facility located within the 5800 block of West Sunset Road, near South Jones Boulevard.

The site was identified as the Advanced Health Care of Las Vegas nursing facility.

Homicide detectives revealed that an elderly man from Pahrump had arrived at the center, walked directly to his wife’s assigned care room, and discharged a firearm, killing her instantly. The man then used the weapon on himself. Both individuals were pronounced dead at the scene by responding emergency medical units.

No Ongoing Security Threat

The names of the deceased couple are being withheld by investigators until the Clark County Coroner’s Office can formally complete family notifications and unseal the autopsy records.
