LAS VEGAS, NV — The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) confirmed early this morning that they have arrested 27-year-old Lamberto Nunez in connection with a hit-and-run collision that left a pedestrian fighting for her life on Tuesday night.
The Collision Details
The incident occurred at approximately 9:34 PM on Tuesday, April 28, at the intersection of West Lake Mead Boulevard and North Torrey Pines Drive.
-
The Violation: Evidence and surveillance footage show a 30-year-old woman was crossing Lake Mead Boulevard from north to south. She was inside a marked crosswalk and had a “walk” signal in her favor.
-
The Impact: A white 2021 GMC Sierra 2500 traveling southbound failed to yield, striking the pedestrian and knocking her to the ground. Investigators report the truck’s left tires ran over the woman before the driver fled the scene.
The Arrest and Investigation
Following a search by the LVMPD Collision Investigation Section, the GMC Sierra and its driver were located.
-
Charges: Nunez was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on a felony charge of hit-and-run resulting in substantial bodily harm.
-
Impairment: Police noted that the driver showed no signs of impairment at the time of his arrest.
Victim Status
The victim remains hospitalized at University Medical Center (UMC) with injuries classified as life-threatening. This crash adds to a grim week for valley pedestrians, following the arrest of Dario Nunez Jr. (no relation) for a separate DUI hit-and-run at a bus shelter earlier in the week.
