DNC Autopsy Admits Democrats Failed on Economy, Border, and Culture but  Nevada Democrats Still Won’t Change

By TheNevadaGlobeStaff, May 22, 2026 7:59 am

A newly released Democratic National Committee postmortem is confirming what voters across Nevada already figured out months ago: Democrats lost because Americans rejected their agenda on the economy, immigration, and far-left cultural politics.

The problem for Democrats? Vulnerable swing-seat Democrats like Susie Lee and Dina Titus appear determined to double down anyway.

The internal DNC report offered a brutal assessment of the party’s 2024 collapse, admitting Democrats suffered from “a persistent inability or unwillingness to listen to all voters” and acknowledging the party had “lost the confidence we once received from everyday Americans.”

Among the biggest political liabilities identified in the report were inflation and the economy, the border crisis tied to former Vice President Kamala Harris’ role as “border czar,” and deeply unpopular cultural positions including taxpayer-funded transgender surgeries for illegal immigrants.

In other words, the exact issues Republicans hammered Democrats on for years. And yet in Nevada, Susie Lee and Dina Titus keep voting like the autopsy never happened.

Lee and Titus have repeatedly opposed eliminating taxes on tips despite representing one of the most service-industry-heavy districts in America. In Las Vegas, where tipped workers fuel the local economy, Republicans have aggressively pushed “No Tax on Tips” as a signature working-class tax cut. Lee and Titus voted against it.

Worse politically, Lee dismissed the relief as “crumbs,” a line Republicans have repeatedly weaponized against her in a city where thousands of hospitality workers depend on tips to survive Nevada’s rising cost of living.

But that is just part of the problem Democrats now face. Lee and Titus have also come under fire over support for transgender policies involving minors and schools, including policies critics argue sideline parents from major decisions involving their own children. Republicans have increasingly tied Democrats nationally to activist-driven gender ideology that polls poorly with swing voters, suburban families, and working-class Hispanics.

The DNC’s own report essentially admitted those cultural fights hurt Democrats badly.

Democrats like Lee and Titus appear uninterested in changing course.

Republicans have also continued hitting Lee over the lengthy government shutdown fight that left DHS personnel, TSA agents, Coast Guard members, and federal law enforcement officers working without pay. Conservatives argue Democrats became so obsessed with appeasing the activist left and anti-ICE crowd that they were willing to sacrifice law enforcement and national security in the process.

RNC Spokesman Nick Poche said Democrats are refusing to learn the lessons of 2024 and continue embracing the same radical agenda voters already rejected, accusing Lee of remaining fully aligned with higher taxes, extreme transgender policies, and anti-law-enforcement politics.

The timing is especially brutal for Democrats.

Earlier this month, the NRCC released its own battleground memo arguing Republicans now hold the political advantage financially, structurally, and culturally heading into the 2026 midterms.

According to NRCC polling, support spikes dramatically for Republican candidates when voters hear they backed middle-class tax cuts, lower taxes for households making under $100,000, and eliminating taxes on tips, overtime, and Social Security income. Those are exactly the kinds of issues Republicans believe are reshaping Nevada politics in real time.

The broader problem for Democrats is becoming harder to ignore. The DNC’s own internal report now confirms many of the positions progressive activists demanded over the last several years turned into political poison with normal voters.

But politicians like Susie Lee  and Dina Titus remain trapped between the reality voters rejected the agenda and the activist base still demanding total ideological loyalty.

Republicans believe that leaves Lee and Titus exactly where they want them: Out of touch with Nevada and stuck defending a party even Democrats themselves now admit lost its way.
