On The Record With President Donald Trump

Trump: ‘What Democrats have done to Nevada is a terrible thing’

By Megan Barth, February 7, 2024 12:51 pm

The Nevada Globe was invited to a phone interview with former President Donald J. Trump yesterday, the day of the Presidential Preference Primary (PPP) day in Nevada and two days prior to the Nevada GOP Caucus tomorrow, February 8th. Hours after our interview, Nikki Haley, his GOP opponent for the President of the United States, was handily defeated by “None of the Above,” adding to Haley’s losses in the Iowa caucus and New Hampshire primary.

One day prior to the PPP, Nikki Haley’s campaign insulted Silver State voters, announcing: “We have not spent a dime nor an ounce of energy on Nevada….Nevada is not and has never been our focus.”

Nevada has been Trump’s focus as he has made numerous campaign stops throughout the key swing state and will win the Nevada GOP caucus tomorrow, picking up 26 delegates needed for the GOP nomination.

In the following interview, we cover polling, breaking news, the border crisis, and how he intends to win Nevada in his third attempt to flip the swingy Silver State to a Republican advantage.

Today is the Presidential Primary in Nevada. Yesterday, Nikki Haley’s campaign insulted Nevadan’s by announcing Nevada has never been her focus….

Well, she ignored Nevada when she looked at the poll numbers that show I am 96 percent favorable in the caucus. It is not about the primary. The primary has nothing to do with it. The primary was a Democrat stunt.

In breaking news, the DC court ruled that you are not protected by presidential immunity. The court referred to you as a citizen, but the actions they are holding you liable for occurred when you were president. What is your reaction to their ruling, and what are the next steps in your defense?

Obviously, we are appealing and I think we should be successful. I think if you don’t have presidential immunity, you really don’t have a president. You’re not allowing the president to do the job that he or she is supposed to be doing. Did you see my posts on Truth social? I will let Truth speak for me, Megan, if you would include that?

In his posts on Truth Social, Trump stated:

“Without Presidential Immunity, the Presidency will lose its power and prestige, and under some Leaders, have no power at all. The Presidency will be consumed by the other Branches of Government. THAT IS NOT WHAT OUR FOUNDERS WANTED!

A President of the United States must have Full Immunity in order to properly function and do what has to be done for the good of our Country. A Nation-destroying ruling like this cannot be allowed to stand. If not overturned, as it should be, this decision would terribly injure not only the Presidency, but the Life, Breath, and Success of our Country. A President will be afraid to act for fear of the opposite Party’s Vicious Retribution after leaving Office. I know from personal experience because I am going through it right now. It will become a Political Weapon used for Election Interference. Even our Elections will be corrupted and under siege. So bad, and so dangerous for our Nation.”

The Supreme Court case will be heard this Thursday with regards to the Colorado Supreme Court’s decision to keep you off the ballot. Do you have confidence that the Supreme Court will rule in your favor?

Well, I can’t imagine that a court would take away the vote from millions of people. We won Iowa in the largest vote in history–the largest margin victory in history, times two. We won New Hampshire with the most votes ever garnered by a candidate. That’s a big statement. Right? We are leading in South Carolina by 35 percent against the former governor. We are leading in the polls by 87 points in the primary and we are leading Biden anywhere from 5 to 11 points.

It seems hard to believe that a court would take away the vote from the number one candidate in both parties.

Do you believe if the Supreme Court rules alongside the Colorado Supreme Court…and in late breaking news we just heard some news that Hawaii Democrats voted to keep you off the ballot…do you believe that you could win the election if you are not on the Colorado ballot?

Well, it’s a question of… how can the vote be taken away like that? How can the vote be taken away? 95 percent legal scholars, the legal opinions are almost unanimous–it’s very close to unanimous– in the fact that, we are supposed to be voting. People aren’t supposed to take something away. Almost every opinion I’ve read comes out on our side. Even Democrats are saying they want to win, but they don’t want to win that way. Every other state has ruled that I will be on the ballot, so I feel very good about it.

Nevada’s RNC National Committeewoman Sigal Chattah called for Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel’s resignation yesterday in response to an article which highlighted the massive amounts of money spent by the RNC on various items like flowers, makeup, limos, etc… Seemingly, everything but investing in winning elections. Adjusted for inflation, 2023 was the worst fundraising haul for the RNC in 30 years. If this was your decision, would you fire Ronald McDaniel or ask her to resign?

Well, you know, I have nothing to do with the RNC other than they support me and they support other candidates. I don’t run the RNC. My impression is that, some changes will be made. I think they would take my recommendation very seriously. But, I can tell you a decision will be made soon, after the South Carolina primary. We’re gonna make a decision, along with the RNC and everybody else, after the South Carolina primary.

(After our interview, Chairman McDaniel announced she will resign her position after the South Carolina primary).

Let’s shift to policy and the bipartisan border bill. Democrats are blaming you for the bill’s failure because you “want chaos in the border to help your campaign.” President Biden continues to claim that Congress has to act in order for him to secure the border. Today, Biden said that “the border is not secure because of Donald Trump and his MAGA Republican friends.”

What is your reaction? And, does President Biden need a bill to secure the border?

No, he doesn’t. The President does not need a bill. He can do exactly what I was doing. He can say “close the border” and it will be closed immediately if the President wants to close it. But, he doesn’t want to close it. He wants open borders and millions of people from places unknown coming into our country. Three years ago, the border was the safest and best it ever was under me, and now it is the worst it has ever been in history. With that being said, this bill was a disaster. This bill was a disaster in every single way.

And, I would be honored to have people know that I was instrumental. I hope people think that. I’m not sure that it’s entirely correct, because I think we have a lot of very good Republicans and even some Democrats that had voted against it, and who will vote against it. This bill was dead or arrival. It was a disaster. It was expensive and a way to funnel money to lots of different people and lots of different countries.

This bill was an absolute catastrophe, and it actually would have hurt the border rather than help the border. The President has the right to clean up the border right now. Everything he needs is there waiting for him to make the call. Close the border. I did it better than anybody.

You said President Biden wants open borders with millions of people coming in. Why do you think he wants that?

Personally, I think he wants their vote. I think they want them to vote.

What does the bill say about McConnell’s leadership in the Senate as he was instrumental in crafting this “disastrous bill”, as you say, with Senator Schumer and others?

Well, I stopped it. You have a lot of wonderful people in the Senate and I don’t think they were ever close to signing this bill. This bill is a political hit job. This bill was a way for the Democrats to get out of having produced the single worst border anywhere in the world.

And McConnell’s leadership?

Well, you will have to ask McConnell about that.

Let’s talk Nevada. The Nevada GOP caucus is on Thursday. A recent report finds that Nevadans are paying an extra $13,000  per year for basic household necessities since President Biden took office. What can you do as President to lower the cost for Nevadans and for the American people?

Wow. That’s some difference. I had heard about $8,000. I hadn’t heard $13,000. Just terrible. But, you start with energy, We can cut energy prices in half. And when you do that, other things will come down with it. Energy is this massive category that affects everything. So, we would start with energy. When energy comes down, everything else is gonna start to come down also.

Is it as simple as “Drill Baby Drill?”

It is “Drill Baby Drill.” It can’t be any more simpler than that. We are going to “Drill Baby Drill.” We are going to get energy way down. And when energy comes down– and that means your electric, that means your everything–when energy comes down, everything comes down. That is the reason we had inflation in the first place. Energy went through the roof. For a lot of reasons, their policies and the wars–all the wars, all the problems, all the conflict all over the world–which continues at a level like we haven’t seen in many years.

Can you comment on the amount of foreign aid in the border bill? The billions going to Ukraine, Israel, Gaza, and how foreign aid may look different in your presidency?

I’m not gonna comment on that totally right now, but I will say this: I think the bills should be separate. We should know where where the money is going and the bills should be separate. I think the border bill should be separate from foreign aid bills. The border bill should be a border bill. It is not a border bill with foreign aid all over it.

I don’t believe they should put them all together and piece them all together to come up with this monster, massive bill where nobody knows where the money’s going or who it is going to. The border bill should be totally separate from the others.

So back to Nevada. You’re polling much better in Nevada this time around. There seems to be an opening for you to win Nevada for the first time due to the economy. The last two elections you narrowly missed by a couple percentage points. How do you win Nevada in an unlimited ballot harvesting state?

I won Nevada. I think I won Nevada both times, but I think I won Nevada the last time. We did better the second time than we did the first time. We did better in the election. You know, I got millions of more votes the second time. Even though we won the first and they say we lost the second. But, I don’t buy it. We did much better in Nevada the second time. And as you know, we had a case and the judge basically didn’t even look at it.

We filed a case which I thought was very conclusive, but the judge didn’t look at it. So, now we are doing better than we did the second time. And we have a governor that’s going to do a great job, and I think he’s going to keep the election honest. I think Governor Lombardo is going to do a great job, and I think he’s going to be watching it. Nevada no longer has a Democrat governor who did a lot of bad things. So, I think it’s very important for the governor to win this race. Being an ex-sheriff, I think he’s in a position to do a very good job in making sure everything’s on the up-and-up, because if we have an honest election in Nevada, we’ll win by a lot.

Isn’t it harder to win in a state with unlimited ballot harvesting?

Very hard. Yeah. It is true. What the Democrats have done to Nevada is a terrible thing and this is countrywide, too. I mean, there are so many different places where everyone knows it doesn’t work. Mail in ballots, for example. Anywhere you have mail-in ballots, you have problems. Mail-in ballots are a disaster. It’s just a disaster. France went away from it. You know, France had mail-in ballots and they felt the elections were being rigged, so they went away from it.

Now they have one day voting, paper ballots and voter ID. Very simple. Saves a lot of money too, by the way. But any place you have mail in ballots, it’s terrible. Terrible. It’s amazing that more states aren’t demanding to go to one-day voting, paper ballots, and voter ID.

A phone rings in the background and we have run out of time. President Trump then asks how the polls are looking in Nevada. I tell him that the demographics are seemingly shifting in his favor, Biden’s favorability rating is in the thirties, and Republicans out-registered voters by a 3-1 margin in December. Democrats now only lead Republicans by less than two percent in voter registration data provided by the Secretary of State.

The president closes with, ” Good. We will do this again, Megan, and I will look forward to it.”

The Nevada Globe will continue to provide exclusive coverage of President Trump’s campaign throughout Nevada.

  1. Sounds like he has a pretty good relationship with Lombardo, that could be good for the state if he’s elected.

Hopefully there can be a look at oil and gas potential in Nevada, there are a few wells around central and northeast Nevada … maybe some more federal land can be made available to the state as well.

I wonder if he will be at Big Game? Biden is wimping out on the game day interview that has become sort of a tradition.
