Rosen vs. DHS over Minnesota Shootings

By TheNevadaGlobeStaff, January 26, 2026 4:00 pm

In the aftermath of a deadly shooting involving federal immigration agents in Minnesota, Senator Jacky Rosen wasted no time doing what Washington Democrats do best. She went straight to political theater.

Rather than standing with law enforcement or waiting for the facts, Rosen jumped in front of cameras to call for the impeachment of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem. Her demand came as investigators were still piecing together what happened and as federal officers faced escalating threats fueled by weeks of anti-ICE rhetoric from the left.

This is not leadership. It is opportunism.

The Minnesota shooting is a tragedy. Any loss of life is. But Rosen’s response was not about justice or accountability. It was about scoring points with the far-left activist class that has spent years demonizing Border Patrol and ICE agents as villains rather than public servants.

Instead of urging calm, Rosen chose escalation. Instead of supporting due process, she called for impeachment. Instead of backing the men and women tasked with enforcing federal law, she sided with a political movement that treats law enforcement as the enemy.

Nevadans should be paying close attention.

Rosen has carefully cultivated a moderate image back home, but moments like this rip the mask off. When the pressure is on, she falls in line with the most radical voices in her party. The same crowd that wants to defund ICE. The same activists who justify the harassment of agents. The same politicians who use every crisis to weaken border enforcement and beyond.

Impeachment is a serious constitutional tool. Rosen cheapened it by turning it into a press release. Her demand comes as Democrats nationally are already threatening to block funding for the Department of Homeland Security and undermine immigration enforcement entirely. The pattern is obvious. Create chaos. Blame law enforcement. Demand resignations. Rinse and repeat.

Meanwhile, the reality on the ground is grim. Federal agents are facing increased danger as rhetoric heats up. Officers are being followed, harassed, and targeted. Instead of lowering the temperature, Rosen poured gasoline on the fire.

This is the same playbook Nevadans have seen before. Democrats talk about public safety while undercutting the very institutions that provide it. They claim to support law enforcement until activists demand a scalp. Then principles disappear.

What Rosen did was not brave. It was predictable. And it sends a dangerous message that political posturing matters more than facts, investigations, or the safety of federal officers.

Nevada deserves better than senators who chase headlines while law enforcement faces real threats. Rosen had a choice. She could have shown restraint and responsibility. She chose the spotlight instead.

That tells voters everything they need to know.
