Axios reports that Senator Jacky Rosen will invest in a record-breaking $14 million early ad buy in Nevada in an attempt to hold her vital U.S Senate seat as Democrats and Republicans battle for control of the chamber.

Reserving ad space early reserves airtime at lower rates in the Silver State. The ad buy will run in Reno and Las Vegas markets and will include radio and television hits.

This scoop comes on the heels of the Cook Political Report moving the Nevada Senate race from Lean Democrat to Toss Up. Cook rightfully predicts the Nevada Senate race to be “one of the toughest in the country.”

As The Globe reported, the Senate Majority PAC, a Democratic super PAC tied to Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY), announced a $36 million ad buy in Nevada to reelect the embattled incumbent.

Democratic donors from California, New York and Massachusetts have contributed close to $4 million to Senator Rosen’s reelection campaign. According to FEC documents, out-of-state donors accounted for over 90 percent of the approximate $3.2 million Rosen raised in the last quarter of 2023, compared to less than 9 percent donated by Nevada residents. Rosen’s total cash-on-hand is over $10.5 million.

In a crowded GOP primary, Captain Sam Brown has significantly out-raised his Republican challengers and recently earned the endorsement of Governor Joe Lombardo. Brown has also received endorsements and financial backing from a number of national Republicans, the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), and Americans for Prosperity.

This week, Republican challenger Dr. Jeff Gunter, former Ambassador to Iceland under President Donald Trump, announced he will be spending $3.3 million in ads ahead of the GOP primary and has aligned himself with the former president claiming he is “110% Pro-Trump.”

Both leading GOP candidates have endorsed the former President, but Trump has not yet endorsed in the primary, referring to the race as “interesting” during a campaign stop in Reno.

In the last Nevada Senate race, Senator Catherine Cortez Masto vastly outspent her GOP opponent Adam Laxalt and secured her reelection victory by less than 8,000 votes.

“While her extreme Republican opponents are busy trying to out-MAGA each other, Jacky Rosen is reaching Nevada voters for the general election and sharing her record as one of the most bipartisan and effective Senators,” Stewart Boss, Rosen’s campaign manager, said in a statement to Axios.

Yet, her bipartisan credentials are marred by the fact that she votes with President Biden 93 percent of the time.

Rosen’s bipartisan push comes at a time when Biden continues to plummet in the polls, trailing Trump by two to five percent margins with Silver State voters.

A recent poll confirms that only 38 percent of Nevada voters indicate that they approve of the job that President Biden is doing while a majority of the electorate – 53 percent – disapprove of the job he is doing. Almost half of the electorate (46 percent) “strongly” disapprove of Biden.
