Driver Killed in Northwest Las Vegas Rollover; Marks 45th Traffic Fatality of 2026

LAS VEGAS, NV — The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) is investigating a deadly single-vehicle collision that claimed the life of a 68-year-old man in the northwest valley late Wednesday night. The crash marks the 45th traffic-related fatality in Metro’s jurisdiction this year.

The Incident Recap

The collision occurred on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at approximately 9:22 p.m. on North Jones Boulevard, just south of West Iron Mountain Road.

  • The Vehicle: A 2023 Ford F-150.

  • The Sequence: Evidence at the scene indicates the pickup was traveling northbound when, for unknown reasons, it crossed into the southbound lanes, drifted onto the sidewalk, and struck a metal light pole.

  • Final Impact: The truck continued across the intersection before coming to rest against elevated dirt and a chain-link fence on private property.

  • Outcome: Arriving emergency medical services determined the driver was beyond resuscitation. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A Deadly Week on Valley Roads

This incident is the second fatal crash reported by Metro in less than two days. It follows a tragic Tuesday morning collision at East Cheyenne Avenue and Lincoln Road, where a motorcyclist was killed after a propane truck turned into his path.

While a recent Nevada Department of Public Safety report indicated that statewide traffic fatalities fell by nearly 25% in the first four months of the year, this week’s surge in high-speed, fixed-object collisions has authorities on high alert. Metro is urging drivers to eliminate distractions and maintain focus, particularly on arterial corridors like Jones Boulevard where design and speed often contribute to severe outcomes.

The LVMPD Collision Investigation Section remains on the case. Anyone with information or dash-cam footage is encouraged to contact Metro’s Fatal Detail.
