Las Vegas Weather Alert: Rain and Wind Sweep Through Valley, Snow Hits Mountains
By TheNevadaGlobeStaff, February 18, 2026 3:32 pm
LAS VEGAS — A second winter storm in as many days soaked the Las Vegas Valley Wednesday, bringing a chilly mix of rain, gusty winds and mountain snow to the region, meteorologists and local authorities reported.
Drivers faced slick roads and brief delays Wednesday morning as showers moved through the valley, and gusts of wind contributed to less-than-ideal driving conditions on major thoroughfares including the 215 Beltway in Henderson. Snowfall was reported at higher elevations, particularly around Mountain Pass and Mount Charleston, where winter conditions persisted into midday.
While roadway impacts were generally minor and cleared quickly by crews, the storm system prompted a Wind Advisory issued by the National Weather Service that remains in effect through the evening, warning residents of strong winds and possible travel disruptions. Another weather system is expected later this week.
Officials remind motorists to slow down on wet pavement, leave extra follow-through distance in windy conditions, and avoid travel in the mountains if possible during snow and ice.
