Two Las Vegas Pedestrians Killed in Separate Weekend Collisions

Las Vegas experienced two separate pedestrian fatalities involving car collisions this past weekend.

Sunday Night Crash on Paradise Road

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) responded to a collision on Sunday night near Paradise Road and East Harmon Avenue. A preliminary investigation indicates that around 8:42 PM, a 64-year-old male pedestrian was struck by a dark blue 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe exiting a private driveway.

The pedestrian, who ran across the street, was hit by the front of the Chevrolet and thrown onto the roadway. He was transported to Sunrise Hospital’s Trauma Center with life-threatening injuries. The LVMPD’s Collision Investigation Section is actively investigating the cause of the crash.

Sunday Morning Collision at Charleston and Decatur

Earlier that day, LVMPD officers responded to another fatal pedestrian collision at the intersection of West Charleston Boulevard and South Decatur Boulevard. Investigators determined that a male pedestrian attempted to cross Charleston Boulevard inside a marked crosswalk, but against the pedestrian signal, around 9:52 AM.

A 2018 BMW 328i traveling eastbound struck the pedestrian, who was thrown onto the road and pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the BMW remained at the scene and showed no signs of impairment.

Solemn Reminder of Pedestrian Safety

This incident marked the 60th traffic-related fatality within the LVMPD’s jurisdiction for 2024. The LVMPD’s Collision Investigation Section is investigating the cause of the crash.

Both incidents serve as a stark reminder of the importance of pedestrian safety. Always obey crosswalk signals and exercise caution when crossing busy streets.
