Las Vegas, NV – Former Nevada Treasurer Dan Schwartz has officially thrown his hat into the ring for the upcoming Congressional race, joining the GOP field aiming to unseat Democratic incumbent U.S. Rep. Susie Lee. Schwartz’s announcement on Wednesday positions him as a contender in the race for Nevada’s third congressional district, covering a significant portion of the south and western Las Vegas valley.

In his statement, Schwartz expressed a commitment to instigate change, stating, “Today, our country needs a reboot, and that change needs to start right here in Nevada. I’m not afraid to take on the system, and I’m ready to take that fight to Washington.”

Schwartz, who served as state treasurer from 2015 to 2019, brings both experience and a history of political endeavors to the table. Despite his unsuccessful bids for governor in 2018, Congress in 2020, and lieutenant governor in 2022, Schwartz remains undeterred in his pursuit of public service.

As part of his commitment to the campaign, Schwartz’s team announced a personal contribution of $1 million in funding, emphasizing his dedication to the race and his vision for the district.

The Republican nomination for Nevada’s third congressional district is already a contested field, with other candidates vying for the opportunity to challenge the Democratic incumbent. Joining Schwartz in the race are Drew Johnson, Elizabeth Helgelien, Steve London, and Steve Schiffman.

The competition for the GOP nomination is expected to intensify as the candidates articulate their policy positions and engage with voters in the lead-up to the primary elections. The outcome will play a crucial role in shaping the political landscape for the general election, adding an extra layer of significance to the upcoming contest.
