NEVADA – The Reno Police Department (RPD) apprehended Carlos Concha on Wednesday in connection with charges related to the attempted sexual assault of a child. The arrest came after an investigation conducted by detectives from the Human Exploitation and Trafficking (HEAT) unit.
During the investigation, it was discovered that Concha had contacted a social media account operated by an undercover detective posing as a 15-year-old. Throughout their conversation, Concha’s messages became increasingly explicit, and he sent unsolicited nude photos and videos while pressuring the supposed minor to reciprocate with explicit images. Additionally, Concha had made plans to meet the minor and engage in sexual activities.
On June 7, the HEAT unit, along with detectives from the Regional Sex Offender Notification Unit and the FBI, arrested Concha. It is important to note that Concha was already out on bail after being arrested in March 2023 in Truckee, California, for attempting to have sexual relations with a minor. In that case, he had driven from Reno to Truckee to meet the minor. The U.S. Attorney’s Office is handling the prosecution of that case.
Concha is now facing multiple charges, including luring a child with the use of a computer, attempted abuse of a child for sexual exploitation, and the attempt to use or permit a minor to be a subject of sexual portrayal.
This is an ongoing investigation, and anyone with information related to this case is urged to contact the HEAT unit at 775-325-6470. The authorities are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of children and will continue to diligently pursue justice in cases involving the exploitation of minors.
