Northern Nevada Police Deal With a Surge in Violent Crime.

NEVADA – In the past two weeks, northern Nevada has seen many violent crimes.
Sparks Police Officer Nick Chambers remarked, “Crime rises in the summer.” Gang violence and domestic violence are on the rise, contributing to bloodshed.
Last week’s officer-involved shooting on Merchant Street in Sparks was sparked by a family argument.
Chambers didn’t mention any gang-related cases, but he said this is a concern. Like many other jobs, police aren’t always completely staffed, he added.
He said, “There aren’t enough cops.” Everyone works and pays taxes.
Reno police have also been busy this week, but they wouldn’t comment. Friday night’s stabbing, Saturday’s gunfire near the GSR, and Monday’s incident outside the Lakemill Lodge are all under investigation.
Chambers thinks the surge in crime is likely due to more people.
He added, “This is a beautiful valley where many people travel.” “Crime rises with the population”
