NV Energy Is Urging Even More Energy Conservation until Thursday

UPDATE: Due to the ongoing heatwave, NV Energy has extended the deadline for its initial request for energy conservation measures to this Thursday.
In light of the record-breaking heat wave in northern Nevada, NV Energy is requesting that customers continue to practice energy efficiency through Wednesday.
The energy provider had previously requested that last week. Even though it acknowledged its customers’ efforts to conserve energy, it continued to call for more, particularly between 5:00 and 8:00 p.m.
They claim that the following actions should be taken to conserve that energy:
- Barring any medical issues, raise the thermostat to 78 degrees or higher to reduce the need for air conditioning, and use ceiling fans to cool people and pets. Pre-cool your house before 5 o’clock.
- Dishwashers, washing machines, and electric clothes dryers are large electrical appliances that should be avoided using.
- Cut off the pool pumps.
- Electric vehicles should not be charged.
- Cut off any unnecessary lighting
- Plug in any unused appliances.
According to NV Energy, it is still assessing its energy supplies and may in the near future make a formal appeal for energy efficiency to prevent a more serious supply problem.
