LAS VEGAS, NV — The National Weather Service (NWS) Las Vegas forecast office has extended an Extreme Heat Warning through Saturday, August 8, 2026, as an unrelenting atmospheric heat dome continues to hold temperatures in the high triple digits across the Las Vegas Valley.
The decision marks the second extension of the advisory, which originally took effect on July 30, as regional health authorities confirm that Southern Nevada’s heat-related death toll has reached 46 fatalities.
High Nighttime Lows Heighten Heat Stress
Following a year-to-date high of 115°F on Saturday, temperatures reached 113°F on Monday afternoon at Harry Reid International Airport.
Meteorologists warn that excessive daytime heat is compounded by elevated overnight lows hovering between 88°F and 93°F, restricting ambient urban cooling and compounding physiological strain on vulnerable populations.
