Las Vegas Man Pleads Guilty in High‑Profile Reba the Bulldog Case

By TheNevadaGlobeStaff, July 30, 2025 1:55 pm

A Las Vegas man, 32-year-old Isaac Laushaul Jr., has entered a guilty plea to one count of felony animal cruelty in connection with the death of an English bulldog named Reba. The dog suffered fatal heatstroke after being left in a sealed storage bin amid triple-digit temperatures in July 2024.

Laushaul originally pleaded not guilty but changed his plea following the arrest alongside co-defendant Markeisha Foster, who pleaded guilty last month to attempting to kill an animal. Foster’s sentencing is scheduled for September 8. Laushaul is slated for sentencing on September 10.

The incident sparked public outrage and led Nevada lawmakers to pass Assembly Bill 381—known as “Reba’s Law”—which boosts penalties for animal cruelty, though it does not apply retroactively.

Law enforcement and advocacy groups continue to emphasize the broader implications of the case and urge the public to consider both its legal and social impact.
