A statewide outage shut down Nevada government websites and delayed third quarter candidate filing reports, however, Governor Steve Sisolak met today’s deadline with his most recent filing. The report shows that Sisolak raised an impressive $3.2 M in the third quarter but spent a massive $12.8 M on his re-election campaign. With 23 days until election day, Sisolak reports only $1.2M on hand as his GOP challenger, Sheriff Joe Lombardo, makes significant gains in the polls.
The report shows a bevy of wealthy donors from inside and outside Nevada. Top ticket donors include unions, casinos, lobbyists, attorneys, and Democrat-aligned PAC’s. Hollywood moguls and various out-of-state billionaires donated the maximum to Sisolak’s re-election campaign.
Notable $10,000 donors include movie mogul Steven Spielberg and his wife Kate Capshaw Spielberg; Florida billionaires and known “Democratic rainmakers”, Ben and Marsha Laufer; California billionaire and technology entrepreneur Kenneth Duda and his wife Jennifer; Jimmy Kimmel and his wife, Molly McNearney (head co-writer of his failing show); Hollywood producer J.J. Abrams; and ten companies located at the same address in Elk Grove Village, Il donated a combined total of $100,000. American playwright, Aaron Sorkin donated $2,500.
Sam Walton, whose Walmart stores were the few to remain open in Nevada, despite Sisolak’s mandated shutdowns, rewarded Sisolak with a $5,000 donation as did the National Football League. CEO of NV Energy, Michael Yackira, donated $4,500. His wife donated an additional $1,000.

In the above tweet, Sisolak claims that his “opponent has a billionaire bankrolling his entire campaign”, however, Sisolak has multiple out-of-state billionaires backing his. Whether or not Sisolak’s donors will be rewarded by his re-election will be determined in 23 days.
