A special CCSD Board meeting has been scheduled for Thursday, November 4th. An addendum to the meeting was added entitled, “Appointment Process for Interim Superintendent” whereby the trustees will discuss and take possible action (emphasis theirs) to appoint Interim Superintendent.
This special meeting will also present, discuss and take possible action on the redistricting maps of the election district boundaries for the Board of School Trustees. The public is invited to attend and submit comments.
This Thursday’s meeting follows the Board’s 4-3 decision on October 28th to terminate “with convenience” Superintendent Dr. Jesus Jara’s contract. Board President Linda Cavazos and Trustees Irene Cepeda, Danielle Ford and Lisa Guzman voted to end Jara’s contract, while Trustees Lola Brooks, Katie Williams and Evelyn Garcia Morales voted against the motion. Jara’s contract was through May 2023 and his annual salary is $320,000. He will remain on the Board for 30 days.
The Globe reached out to the School Board offices for further clarification as to the choice of Interim candidates who have applied or are contenders for Thursday’s meetings. We are expecting a call back from President Linda Cavazos per the Executive Assistant.
