The Animal Foundation Has Resumed Limited Dog Adoptions in Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS – Limited dog adoptions have resumed at the Animal Foundation’s Las Vegas shelter after being temporarily suspended due to an outbreak of respiratory disease.
On Thursday, the organization’s website reported that 73 canines exhibited symptoms of Canine Pneumovirus. In addition, 28 more are now healthy enough to be adopted.
According to the organization, the dogs up for adoption have not been exposed to the disease and have been given the all-clear by the veterinary staff. As more canines recover from the infection or finish their isolation period, more will become accessible.
Animal rights activists have accused the foundation of overcrowding, mismanagement, retaliation against workers, brutal treatment of the creatures in its care, and a lack of responsiveness; on Wednesday, the Las Vegas City Council agreed to audit the monies it pays to the organization.
