LAS VEGAS – In a heart-wrenching incident on Friday afternoon, two dogs were discovered lifeless, while seven others, mostly puppies, were rescued from a pickup truck where they had been left for several hours without shade or proper care.
The distressing scene unfolded around 3:05 p.m. when authorities responded to a report of animals in distress. The truck, parked near Dean Martin Drive and Tropicana Avenue, outside a Motel 6, became the tragic site of this animal welfare emergency, according to Lt. Mark Lourenco of the Metropolitan Police Department.
Upon arrival, officers were met with the alarming sight of nine dogs confined to the bed of the truck, enduring the scorching heat without any protection. Tragically, two of the dogs had succumbed to the extreme conditions, while the remaining seven were fortunately rescued in the nick of time.
Metropolitan Police Department has taken a woman into custody in connection with this disturbing incident. The investigation into this case of alleged animal cruelty is ongoing, as authorities seek to determine the full extent of the circumstances and hold those responsible accountable.
