Nevada Governor Lombardo Introduces Bill to Improve School Safety

NEVADA – Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo is set to present a new bill focused on improving school safety. The bill, called Assembly Bill 330, proposes to eliminate the current requirement that schools must have individual restorative justice plans in place before administrators can suspend, remove or expel students.
If passed, the bill would also mandate that the State Superintendent of Instruction reviews data on punishment disparities and takes corrective action, including putting schools under a corrective plan, to rectify any discrepancies in punishment.
Governor Lombardo is scheduled to provide testimony before the State Legislature later today, Thursday afternoon, to discuss the bill and its potential impact on schools and students.
