Rep. Steven Horsford (D-NV) has announced his support for President Joe Biden in a prepared statement released on his campaign’s X (formerly Twitter) account. Horsford is one of the first in the Democratic congressional delegation from Nevada to publicly announce his support for the embattled president since Biden’s disastrous debate on CNN.
Horsord’s support comes after the holiday weekend marked by fireworks within the Democratic party as numerous Democratic officials have asked President Biden to abandon his reelection bid over concerns of his cognitive decline. Despite their calls, Biden has vowed to remain in the race.

In his announcement, Horsford claims that voters in Nevada “care about a thriving and equitable economy” and will ultimately “reject the divisive politics” of Donald Trump.
Although Nevadans do care about a thriving and equitable economy, numerous polls show that Silver State voters are widely rejecting President Biden’s domestic policies.
According to new polling conducted by National Public Affairs shows former President Donald J. Trump leading President Joe Biden by 10 points in Nevada in a head-to-head matchup.
Of the polled respondents, 26 percent cite inflation as the most important issue. “Threats to democracy” and immigration round out their top three concerns, with abortion coming in a distant fourth. Since Biden assumed office, consumer prices have risen over 19 percent.
In March, The Globe reported that Nevada’s inflation rate rose to a whopping 21.6 percent. Relative to January 2021 prices, Nevadans are paying an additional $1,168 per month, or $27,782 per year, for basic household expenses.
Horsford’s GOP challenger, former mayor of North Las Vegas, John Lee has earned the endorsements of Governor Joe Lombardo and Donald Trump in his bid to unseat the Democratic congressman in Nevada’s fourth congressional district.
Lee told The Globe, “Steven Horsford’s endorsement of President Biden is a slap in the face to every hardworking Nevadan. By backing Biden’s disastrous policies, Horsford shows he’s more interested in appeasing Washington elites than addressing the real concerns of our community. Under Biden, our southern border is in chaos, and inflation is squeezing families dry, doubling the cost of essentials. Horsford’s support for Biden’s failed agenda proves he’s out of touch and unfit to represent Nevada’s 4th Congressional District. It’s time for new leadership that prioritizes our security, prosperity, and the future of our families.”
Election analysts rate the district as “likely Democratic” and expect a competitive race. Republicans currently hold a slim 218-213 vote majority in the House of Representatives.
“Steven Horsford is tying himself to Biden’s poor economy, open border and high inflation that are the exact reason Nevadans are turning away from Biden in record numbers. Voters will hold Horsford and Biden accountable this November, ” said NRCC Spokeswoman Delanie Bomar in a released statement.

Doesn’t seem that together. This is a negative for Horseradishford.
