In a video posted on X,GOP candidate for U.S Senate Captain Sam Brown slammed President Biden’s State of the Union (SOTU) address for the”disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal and Biden’s failure to acknowledge the 13 lost marines and their families in an operation known as Abbey Gate.” The Commander in Chief has failed to publicly acknowledge the disastrous withdrawal in his last three SOTU addresses.

During the SOTU, Gold Star father Steven Nikoui interrupted President Biden’s address with shouts of “13 marines….Remember Abbey Gate”, and was immediately escorted from the rotunda, placed in handcuffs and arrested. Nikoui’s son Lance Corporal Kareem Nakoui lost his life in the botched operation.

Nikoui was invited by Florida Rep. Brian Mast who tweeted after Nakoui’s arrest, “For the last three SOTU speeches, Joe Biden REFUSED to say the names of the 13 U.S. service members who were killed by his disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal.”

In the video, Brown reacts to the arrest by stating, “The insult of last night couldn’t have been more extreme….What was done last night was shameful….The Capitol was built on the blood of those who sacrificed…We should always honor and remember that. Remember the 13. Remember Abbey Gate.”

Brown also encourages his followers and viewers to donate to the Gary Sinise Foundation to support veterans.

Brown is a purple heart veteran who was nearly killed by a road side bomb while deployed to Afghanistan.

Brown is backed by the NRSC and was recently endorsed by Governor Joe Lombardo. Brown will face Air Force veteran Tony Grady, former Ambassador Jeffrey Gunter, Attorney Ronda Kennedy, Businessman Barry Lindemann, former Assemblyman Jim Marchant, and Real Estate Agent Stephanie Phillips in the June GOP primary.
