Exclusive: Republicans Leading by Two on State Legislative Generic Ballot

Survey finds cost of living is the top issue facing Nevadans

Later today, the Republican State Leadership Committee (RSLC) will release results from an extensive statewide survey done in the Silver State that shows state Republicans in a strong position ahead of November, as Democrats have failed to adequately address the rising costs of living in Nevada and are being dragged down by President Biden’s plummeting poll numbers. With less than four months until Election Day, state Republicans in Nevada are in their strongest position in multiple cycles.

The  new survey conducted by Cygnal found the political environment in Nevada favors state Republicans, as they lead on generic ballot and voters want the Legislature to serve as a check and balance on Biden and want their state government to focus on improving the economy.

  • Republicans lead on the state legislative generic ballot by two points (48%-46%).
  • Elected Democrats in the state Legislature are under water by six points (42%-48%)
  • President Biden has a dismal image rating of 41%-57%.
    • Only 40% of those surveyed want the Legislature to support Biden’s agenda, while 52% want the Legislature to enact opposite policies to push back on the President.
  • The cost of living is the top issue Nevadans want their state government to address at 27%.
  • Nevadans are 65% less likely to vote for a state legislative candidate who voted for legislation that could lead to higher energy costs.
  • Nevadans are 59% less likely to vote for a state legislative candidate who belongs to the party in power that has given the state the second highest unemployment rate in the country, the second highest gas prices, and made it the second least educated state.
  • 38% of Nevadans named the cost of living as well as creating jobs and growing the economy as top issues.

As reported by The Globe, Bidenflation is hitting Nevadan households the hardest. Even if prices stop increasing altogether, the inflation that has already occurred will cost the average Nevada household $8,231 over the next 12 months. As a result, Biden’s approval rating in Nevada has dropped 11 points and has lost 16 points with Democratic voters under 45 and nine points with Democrats over 45.

“Nevada Democrats in the Legislature have Nevada at the bottom of the list on every key economic metric as a result of being in lockstep with President Biden’s failing liberal agenda,” said RSLC Deputy Communications Director Mason Di Palma. “Nevadans deserve a state legislative body that works for them and not Democrats in Washington D.C. Republicans are building momentum in Nevada and will continue holding Democrats accountable for their failed record as we near November.”
